Thomas Cook (India) Limited was appointed the exclusive Accommodation, Catering and Transport (ACT) partner for the Khelo India Para Games 2025, the second edition of the multi-sport para event under the Indian government’s Khelo India initiative, which was held in New Delhi from 20th – 27th March, 2025.
The week-long Paralympics-style event brought together over 1,300 para athletes from various states and Union Territories and 1,000+ support staff. They competed in six para-sport disciplines: para archery, para athletics, para powerlifting, para badminton, para table tennis, and para shooting. The Games were held across three iconic venues – Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Indira Gandhi Arena, and Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
Thomas Cook India deployed a specialised task force of over 100 trained professionals, along with 120+ local personnel, with a strong focus on accessibility and comfort for para athletes.
While Thomas Cook MICE has successfully managed multiple large-scale sporting events in the past, this marked the team’s first engagement with para athletes. In preparation, the team underwent specialised training to deliver empathetic, respectful, and efficient support tailored to the unique needs of para participants.
Key Highlights of the Partnership included:
- Management of 8,000+ room nights, including para-special accessibility arrangements
- Overseeing 3 hostels with full housekeeping support
- Delivery of 35,000+ meals through 3 live kitchens for athletes and support staff:
- Handling of 2,000+ coach and small vehicle duties with para-accessible transport solutions
- Operation of 24×7 Helpdesks at 11 city arrival points
- Set up of 24×7 Control Room with a toll-free helpline for real-time coordination
