Thomas Cook India Champions the Silver Traveller: Safe, Smart and Soulful Journeys for 55+

Making Pilgrimage Travel Easy and Enjoyable:
Thomas Cook India Partners with Gen S Life for Seniors

While India is known for its young population, its senior demographic is also growing rapidly. Those aged 60 and above are projected to reach 347 million by 2050, accounting for 21% of the country’s total population (PwC–ASLI Senior Care Report 2024; UNFPA 2023). Recognising this powerful shift—and the rising aspirations of the 55+ community—Thomas Cook (India) Limited, is deepening its focus on this high-potential segment through product innovation and strategic partnerships.

Today’s senior travellers are independent, financially secure, and eager to explore the world. With more leisure time and disposable income, they are increasingly seeking meaningful, comfortable, and experience-rich holidays.

In line with this, Thomas Cook India partnered with Gen S Life, a lifestyle and community platform for the 55+ demographic, to co-host an educational webinar titled “Making Pilgrimage Travel Easy & Enjoyable for 55+” on 29th October 2025. The free Zoom session aimed to empower senior travellers with expert insights into safer, smoother, and more fulfilling spiritual journeys.

The webinar featured renowned choreographer and traveller Sandip Soparrkar, who along with Thomas Cook’s expert tour managers, shared travel tips, destination insights, and health guidance tailored for senior needs. Drawing on Thomas Cook’s extensive spiritual circuits—from Varanasi, Ayodhya and Bodh Gaya to Madurai, Tirupati and Rameswaram—the session showcased how convenience and comfort are woven into every journey: guided tours, VIP darshans, AC transfers, and even aerial Char Dham helicopter tours that complete the circuit in just four days instead of ten.

The company’s Pilgrimage Plus portfolio blends devotion with discovery—offering seniors curated experiences like sunset cruises on the Ganges, cultural walks, and local cuisine trails. Attendees of the webinar also received exclusive access to customised pilgrimage packages and special senior group offers.

To further cater to this segment, Thomas Cook India will soon launch specialised group tours for seniors to international destinations, featuring elder-friendly hotels, dietary support, easy-access vehicles, entertainment evenings, and experienced tour managers.

Rajeev Kale, President & Country Head – Holidays, MICE, Visa,  said: “India’s silver economy is expanding rapidly, driven by longevity, digital inclusion, and higher discretionary income. Seniors today are confident, curious, and ready to explore without compromise. Our partnership with Gen S Life is a natural extension of our vision—to make travel seamless, safe, and truly enjoyable for the 55+ community.”

Meenakshi Menon, Founder of Gen S Life, added: “For many seniors, a pilgrimage is deeply personal but can seem logistically daunting. Our partnership with Thomas Cook combines safety, convenience, and community—encouraging seniors to travel without hesitation and embrace new experiences with enthusiasm and ease.”

With over 40,000 downloads and 15,000+ registered users, the Gen S Life app offers an ecosystem of services across health, wellness, finance, safety, travel, and community. As one of its early partners, Thomas Cook India continues to bring members exclusive and enriching travel experiences designed for a new generation of seniors.
