I would like to use this opportunity to wish you and your family a Belated Happy New Year, and to our colleagues in Hong Kong a\u00a0belated Happy Chinese New Year in the Year of the Rooster!<\/span><\/p>\n

By the time this issue is released, the KYP process would have been completed and payments released. I must congratulate Mona and the HR Team, Maria, Dipak, Vishal, Mahesh, Chaminda and Shakeel for having facilitated this process across the entire Group.<\/span><\/p>\n

2017 has already witnessed a lot of activity with the Board of Directors from Fairfax and Senior Management of the Group, and their spouses, led by Prem and Nalini Watsa, who were down in India for a week at the beginning of January. The highlights of the visit were an audience with the Honourable Prime Minister for the Board in Delhi followed by a visit to Agra, Jaipur and Mumbai. The Group of 92\u00a0was handled by TCI- SITA led by Dipak Deva\u00a0and his team. The visit was flawless and of the highest quality, and I would specially like to commend the efforts of Dipak, Vineet Mahendru, Manoj Pamneja, Sanjay Sharma, Anuja Jain and Sakshi Chopra.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maria Ng, Managing Director Travel Circle International, Hong Kong (Kuoni Hong Kong) completed 20 years with the company, and we celebrated the special milestone with Prem giving her the commendation medal. Mahesh Iyer, COO Thomas Cook India Limited, was elevated to the post of CEO of Thomas Cook India Limited. Lastly, Abraham Alapatt was appointed as the CEO of the Fairfax Charitable Foundation. Please join me in congratulating them on these milestones.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another important achievement was the Fairfax Charitable Foundation having been able to place 32 dialysis machines at 5 centers. The work on this started in May 2016, when Prem gave the Honourable Prime Minister a commitment to place a 1000 dialysis machines to assist people suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease. This is a significant achievement.<\/span><\/p>\n

With so many achievements occurring during the first month, I believe this is going to be a positive and eventful year, and expect to see many more achievements in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n
