As you read this message, we are now 12 weeks into what started as a small conflict with Iran, which could have ended soon. Unfortunately, it has dragged in the whole of the Middle East, and created an unprecedented energy crisis for the world, which will take years to normalize, even if the West Asia conflict was to end today.<\/p>\n
While this event may seem less damaging as compared to our Covid periods, the long-term damage coming out of the supply chain disruptions, energy crisis and more sovereign controls make the world less global. It has affected our businesses too, in the short to medium term.<\/p>\n
Despite these adversities that influenced our last quarter performance, (please read my email of 18th May 2026), we have remained resilient. This reflects not only the depth, but also the breadth of our portfolio both geographically and business wise. As the Thomas Cook Group, we continue to remain nimble, making prudent adjustments to our cost structure in a measured way, without having to impact business, and its growth agenda.<\/p>\n
We are at the peak of our Holiday season. I am sure each one of you is doing his or her best to convert every possible travel opportunity into winning more customers. With our ability to pivot from Long Haul to Short Haul, and with Domestic Travel showing signs of growth, I believe we have actually done well, and we should continue to focus in the near term.<\/p>\n
I am confident that we will navigate these uncertain times and emerge even stronger, just as we have done repeatedly in the past. Our ability to embrace technological advancements and drive our AI agenda forward will enable us to become better, and ready for the \u2018tsunami\u2019 of opportunities that will follow once the conflict subsides. I sincerely hope and pray that day comes sooner rather than later!<\/p>\n
