There’s nowhere quite like Cape Town, a booming city at the tip of Africa, crowned by the magnificent Table Mountain. It’s no wonder that the \u2018Mother City\u2019 has been voted numerous times as one of the top 10 cities in the world. Not content to rest on natural beauty alone, Cape Town is constantly updating and increasing its offerings to the tourism industry. Most recently, The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) opened its doors to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Zeitz MOCAA is the largest museum dedicated to contemporary art from Africa, and its diaspora, in the world. Since its opening on 22 September 2017, about 5,000 art lovers have flocked to the museum daily to see the beautiful exhibitions. The museum building is a converted Grain Silo set in the popular V&A Waterfront. The \u201ccathedral-like\u201d Zeitz MOCAA boasts over 100 galleries spread across 9 floors. The museum will also be used to host international exhibitions, develop supporting educational and enrichment programmes and encourage intercultural understanding.<\/span><\/p>\n

An extensive proportion of the art collection was provided by German businessman and art collector, Jochen Zeitz. Visitors can expect to see works by notable artists such as Chris Ofili, Kudzanai Chiurai, Glenn Ligon, Marlene Dumas and Julie Mehretu. The museum’s immediate surroundings, the Silo District, is scheduled for further development\u2026 So watch this space and keep your eyes on Cape Town.<\/span><\/p>\n
