The 11-km Nam Sang Wai Circuit in the New Territories offers a refreshing and alternative side to this destination. Guided by local cyclists, we set off on a two-hour ride through wetlands, brimming with flora and fauna. The marshes, mangrove-clad shores of three rivers and abandoned fish farms are ripe feeding grounds for an abundance of birds and every year, an estimated 90,000 migratory birds take refuge in this place.<\/span><\/p>\n

After absorbing relaxing scenery and enjoying a local lunch, we return to the bright lights and lofty landscape of either Kowloon or Hong Kong island.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pride and preservation has run through the lives of the local villagers for generations. Their respect for the environment has ensured local wetlands and mangroves remain flourishing and pristine. We get to explore this serene sanctuary of nature and quaint communities by pedal power. We travel down a meandering route that leads to a secluded beach where we enjoy lunch. A 20-minute boat ride through the fully enclosed mangrove forest also forms an unmissable part of our exploration.<\/span><\/p>\n

We travel through the heart of Yunnan province, from Shangri-La to Dali. Participants will cover close to 500 km, spread over 11 days of cycling. The journey takes in dramatic mountain landscapes of dense forests, deep gorges and alpine lakes, with some trails leading to remote hillside indigenous tribe communities. To enhance the experience, we stay in local boutique accommodation along the way. Once a stop on the Silk Road trade route, Dali is one of the most historic locations in China and packed with architectural attractions such as the ancient City Walls.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a route that takes riders close to the clouds.<\/span><\/p>\n

History, heritage and cultural pursuits feature heavily on a four-day cycling programme a short distance from Bangkok.<\/span><\/p>\n

Situated north and west of the capital in Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi respectively, this tour takes in these two destinations\u2019 landmark sites. The ruins of palaces and temples will be explored in Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam. The remnants of war will be uncovered in Kanchanaburi, including a ride on the infamous \u2018death railway\u2019. On the way, we stop at the famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and enjoy a boat journey along a maze of canals, followed by a bike ride through quaint villages and fertile fruit plantations.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of Penang\u2019s hidden treasures is the rural region of Balik Pulau.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our bicycle excursion follows a trail that takes in picturesque villages, lush fruit and spice plantations, verdant rice paddies and fishing villages. With return transfers included from guests\u2019 respective accommodation, this half-day adventure offers a different experience from George Town\u2019s UNESCO-listed heritage sites and Batu Ferringhi\u2019s beach attractions. The majority of the tracks we ride on in this agricultural area are traffic-free. This off-road route enables a deeper connection to nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

The guides are an integral part of the tour as they have extensive knowledge of the locality and they have built a strong connection with local residents, enabling a truly genuine immersion in a less travelled district.<\/span><\/p>\n

Epic Cycle Ride to Phnom Penh<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A bicycle ride from Cambodia\u2019s top tourist destination of Siem Reap \u2013 the gateway to the Angkor Archaeological Park \u2013 to the capital of Phnom Penh is the ultimate two-wheeled adventure.<\/span><\/p>\n

This three-day package provides a deep insight into provincial life. Riders are backed by a support vehicle, a guide, meals provision and mechanical maintenance. Overnights are in accommodation in Kampong Thom and Kampong Cham respectively, ahead of reaching the bright lights of Phnom Penh and a hotel in the capital.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 320-km journey is rewarded with sprawling countryside, quaint hamlets, abundant ancient temples and a glimpse of life along a stretch of the famous Mekong River. Time is also set aside for some solo exploration of Phnom Penh.<\/span><\/p>\n

Given its proximity to the former capital, this destination can be covered on a full-day tour. Cyclists will be transported into a rural area where life moves at a much slower pace. This bike trip enables interaction with the local people and an insight into their lives, including visits to traditional potteries \u2013 a mainstay of the local economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The journey from Yangon involves a ferry ride across the Yangon River and then cycling all the way to the destination, with some stops to view a market and a renowned temple. The return journey to the city is by support vehicle.<\/span><\/p>\n
