It takes place every six months (210 days) in the Balinese calendar. It is linked with the ancient Lanna Kingdom (13th-18th centuries), an Indianised state in present-day Northern Thailand.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">People release lanterns into the sky as part of the celebrations to symbolise letting go of ills and misfortunes in the previous year.
