Last November Luxe Asia handled its very first cruise operation for the vessel “Voyager” of Voyages of Discovery offering excursions for over 1000 passengers. The team consisted of suppliers and tour guides, along with the Luxe Asia staff, who did a remarkable job in conducting it. For the excursions, we encountered a few challenges but with proper planning and execution we overcame them, and delivered expected service standards.
The cruise was initially docked in Colombo where we handled day excursions in Colombo, Negombo as well as Pinnawela, and then later sailed on to the Southern coast to experience sites such as the beautiful Galle Fort. The main highlights included experiencing the hustle and bustle of a local fish market in Negombo, a scenic boat ride through the mangroves of the Madu River, walking inside the Dutch built Galle fort, visiting the Martin Wickramasinghe Museum of Folk Culture, and a tea estate to get a taste of real Sri Lankan tea! A special mention should be made of Parvinder Bedi, Deputy General Manager of Cruise & Special Interests, who assisted us immensely during the course of this period. It was definitely a new and exciting learning experience for all of us.
