“Travel Quest” initiated by TCIL two years ago has gained in popularity with each subsequent year. The third season of Travel Quest came to a glorious end at Sterling resorts, Fern Hills, Ooty on 26th January, 2017. The Grand Finals were graced by the city’s leading educational institutions, parents, students and the tourism board representatives. It was again hosted by the distinguished quiz-master Giri Pickbrain, who is actually super-good at picking the students’ brains! It is a tough Quiz and it is amazing to see the vast knowledge the young participants have! Season 3 witnessed the participation of over 2.5 Lakh students from 1000 schools across 14 cities in India such as Dehradun, Jaipur, Kochi, Nagpur etc. Open to students from classes 6-9, the six-month on-line and on-ground outreach was initiated in July 2016 finally culminating in 24 shortlisted students competing for the semi-finals and finals in Ooty.
This season the winners were the students of St. Michael’s, Siliguri — Apurb Agarwal and Zeeshan Ali — who won a trip to Switzerland sponsored by Switzerland Tourism.
The national finalists of the contest were teams from Clarence High School, Bangalore — Bharani Vel Karthik and Sai Harshit, AMM Matric Hr. Sec School, Chennai — S. Sai Krishna and Abhijit Aravind, and Little Flower, Jamshedpur — Anish Roy and G. S. Vishnu. The national finalists won a trip to Spain sponsored by Spain Tourism.
All the City Final winners were hosted in Ooty as a part of their city level prize: A ‘Travel ‘n’ Learn trip where they had learning experiences in the Tea & Chocolate factories and the Botanical Gardens.
