Thomas Cook India Selected by the Govt. of India’s Ministry of External Affairs to Execute Two Tableaux for the Republic Day Parade

We were selected to conceptualise, design and execute the two tableaux, and the key Indian influences that were featured in the ASEAN tableaux included shared values, education, trade, culture and religion. The entire ASEAN region incorporates significant elements of Hinduism in its architecture, arts, sculpture dance, drama and literature, which is why the ASEAN-India tableaux portrayed educational, historical, cultural and religious links as the strongest connections between India and South East Asia.

Inviting the 10 ASEAN leaders together was a brilliant move by our Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is hugely symbolic, as India needs to make a deeper commitment to ASEAN. Growing connectivity has reinforced proximity. It has also put India among the fastest growing sources of tourism in Southeast Asia. It is a proud moment for all of us at Thomas Cook to have the privilege of designing these tableaux. We based our ideas of concepts that are quintessentially Indian but are of relevance in today’s world. India’s Republic Day parade is a spectacular display of the country’s unity in diversity, and we feel honoured to have contributed to this year’s show.
