SOTC participates in School of Business’s Symposium on World Tourism Day

Symposium on World TourismThe School of Business celebrated World Tourism Day, and hosted a Symposium with renowned speakers gracing the occasion to share their knowledge with the students. The tourism sector was split into four key areas of Business Tourism, Leisure Tourism, Tourism Infrastructure, and Online Tourism Portals. Invited speakers were Tushar Pandey,  Stuti Das,  Kashif Khan,  Vijender Sharma, and  Ankit Rastogi, who spoke about the key areas.

Stuti Das, Vice President, SOTC Travels Ltd. spoke about Business Tourism. She played an instrumental role in shaping the MICE business at SOTC. She described that tourism is all about making dreams a reality. She said that tourism industry is all about adapting to the changes with the dynamic business environment. She then focused on the MICE market i.e. Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions or Events. She linked it with Motivation, Information, Communication, and Education. She enlightened the students about the qualities a person is required to have in the business tourism sector and ended by saying that “if you are not taking care of your customers, your competitors will.”

All the speakers were presented a memento by Dr. Anirban Sengupta, Dean, School of Business. The symposium also saw the inauguration of the Centre for Tourism Studies. The Center will be working on developing a research and knowledge base focusing on the tourism sector; network with the industry, serve as a platform for industry experts to share cutting edge industry developments, emerge as a think tank for policy makers and support SOB in its endeavor to produce trained manpower to cater to the current and emerging requirements of the tourism sector.
