Some of you may remember that in February 2018, Thomas Cook had signed a contract with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India for the path breaking “Khelo India” School Games.
The Khelo India Programme- is a transformational initiative to create a vibrant sports eco-system, revive sports culture at a grass-root level and establish India as a great sporting nation.
Thomas Cook India was selected as the Hospitality Partner for the Khelo India School Games, held during January 31 – February 8, 2018 in New Delhi, where India’s Under-17 athletes were invited to participate across 16 disciplines.
At that time, we had set up a dedicated team of 160 members during the Khelo India School Games to project drive this strategic initiative. The Team had successfully executed the partnership by providing both accommodation and meals for an approximately 5000 strong contingent- for a duration of 10 nights, at around 100 properties in Delhi. It was also held in Pune and Guwahati. An awesome task!
Khelo India 2021, Haryana, was the 4th edition, and once again, Thomas Cook was involved.
The games were inaugurated by the Hon. Union Minister of Sports Anurag Thakur, starting on 3rd June and ending on 14th June. The participants, all below 19 years, were from all states and union territories.
This time the statistics were even more impressive and the numbers grew considerably.
No of Athletes – 6800
No of days – 12
No of Hotels – 172
No of rooms – 3560
Total TC TMs – 170

This is a wonderful initiative to transform India into a global sporting powerhouse in the coming years, and Thomas Cook is proud to play an integral role in supporting the Government in this endeavour.
