Mandela Day 2024: Storms Couldn’t Stop Our Staff

Private Safaris Southern Africa staff demonstrated their continued dedication to community service and philanthropy by braving the severe Cape Town storms on Mandela Day to support Food Forward SA. Marked every year on 18th July to honour *Madiba’s birthday, Mandela Day, is a global call to action that celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world.

In July 2024, Cape Town experienced severe weather and storms that wreaked havoc on communities, particularly affecting those less fortunate. The relentless downpours and powerful winds resulted in flooding and infrastructural damage, leaving many vulnerable households without shelter or food. In response to this crisis, Private Safaris stepped up to support Food Forward SA, providing critical aid to those most in need. Their mission to address food insecurity and wastage aligns perfectly with our values of social responsibility and community empowerment.

Every year our team participates in various projects that embody the spirit of Ubuntu (‘humanity to others’) and upholding Mandela’s ideals of unity, equality, and service to others. This year was no exception, as our staff enthusiastically dedicated their time and resources by packing emergency food hampers for families in need. Through their efforts, we honoured Madiba’s legacy, by making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. #ComeExploreWithUS

*Madiba is a title of respect for Nelson Mandela, deriving from his Xhosa clan name
