Making His ‘Mark’ In AlliedTPro For The Last 15 Years!

He joined AlliedTPro in February 2008 as Chief Financial Officer and two years later became Chief Operating Officer. In 2012, he was named CEO. This past year, he assumed the additional responsibility of CEO of the newly formed Joint Venture with DER Touristik’s US based subsidiary, New World Travel.

He is MARK MORELLO.

Asked which attributes best described him, his colleagues promptly came up with foresight, adaptability, teamwork and reliability!

We had to know more about him, so Pulse reached out to Mark to learn more about him, and his career.

Pulse: Tell us a little bit about your early career, prior to AlliedTPro days. What drew you to the travel industry?

Mark: Before joining AlliedTPro, I held senior level positions with Christie’s, Carlson Wagonlit (formally Maritz Travel Company), The Rockefeller Group, and Grant Thornton where I started my career and became a CPA.  I attended St. John’s University in New York and majored in accounting.

I’ve been blessed throughout my career to have worked with great leaders who mentored me and help develop my skills, as well as with very talented teams who share the same passion and desire, to succeed and provide the highest level of service.  Having worked in public accounting and several other industries, I can truly say the travel industry is very special, and as I was once told by the CEO of Carlson Wagonlit, “once you get travel in your blood you will never want to leave the industry”……and he was right!

Pulse: Describe what skills and traits have made you successful.

Mark: Growing up I played baseball at a competitive level, and although I never reached my dream of playing in the major league, I learned a lot from the game which I carried into my professional career.  Things like the importance of teamwork and how a team is only as good as every player in every position.  Also, I developed a strong appreciation for the winning, and the lessons learned from losing.  In many ways baseball and the business world are very similar in that success is based on every team member working together and excelling at their position, and anticipating the next move of the other team or competition.

Pulse: What is your favorite pastime?

Mark: When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my wife, two daughters and friends.  Although I don’t play baseball anymore, I recently started playing pickle ball (the fastest growing sport in the USA), and enjoy playing tennis. I also started to play golf again after a long hiatus. For relaxation I love spending time at the beach in both New York and Florida.
