“Just Do It,” says the Learning and Development Team

An organization’s ability to learn, and translate that learning into action rapidly is the ultimate competitive advantage. Jack Welch, former General Electric CEO

“The most effective way to do it…. Is to do it” and this is what Team Learning and Development at Thomas Cook India Group strongly believes in. Some of the initiatives successfully delivered by Team Learning and Development were introducing the learning platform ‘Ingrain’, and training over 100+ freshers into the organization.

After a successful recruitment spree, Team Learning and Development was entrusted with the responsibility to train over 100+ young talents who were to take their first step into the Travel and Tourism Industry. The Thomas Cook Graduate Training Program (TCGTP) was an enriching experience where the team worked closely with these freshers and endeavoured to make them more productive by providing them with extensive training for up to 30 days before they hit the floor. The first two weeks of the training were focused on understanding the organization, its businesses and values along with a plethora of behavioural training programs focusing on building interpersonal relationships, developing communication skills, a positive attitude, and a productive mind-set that will allow everyone to work and perform well. “Chai Pe Charcha” a time where the freshers interacted with the members of the Executive Committee to understand a cupful of history, organisational culture, stories and conversations over Tea!

This was followed by Business Training, which helped them to learn the ropes of the business they were going to be aligned with. These programs played a crucial role in enhancing their skills, capabilities, knowledge and at the same time understanding processes and procedures for doing a particular job which will in turn help them to perform better, and enable them to gain a competitive edge in the Travel and Tourism Industry, which is bouncing back in a big way.

Team Learning and Development is looking forward to making the organization a learning organization and ‘Ingrain’ is the tool to support this objective. Post covid we aimed to bring learning to people instead of people to learning. In this digital era, e-learning has revolutionized the conventional method of chalk and board style of learning. Our learning portal “Ingrain” is a platform for knowledge sharing where we have started using different methodologies of training that include self-paced learning, live virtual learning, and classroom learning.

The learning platform offers various behavioural and functional training that help learners to learn on the go. The world is changing at a speed like never before and we need to abide by it. Today, everyone is expected to do things they have never done before and the only thing that is going to help in this journey is quickly enhancing one’s knowledge which should be available anywhere and anytime. The learning platform Ingrain is accessible on the web and on the mobile phone. It is robust and it organizes the learning content into micro-learning modules that will help our colleagues perform better and learn from one another through social learning experiences.

“The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.” It’s time to log on to Ingrain and enhance your learning journey and experience.
