It Happened in a Flash!

Groovy News!

There was a sudden burst of activity in the Thomas Cook Gurgaon Office.  BT 2.0 accomplished what, perhaps, the Execom bosses couldn’t do….. make 10 branches dance to their tune!

Some people felt that many of our staff had been so engrossed in their work; they had lost the ability to relax and enjoy breaks. Something had to be done. We had to loosen up. How about an impromptu Flash Mob? A brilliant idea!

The brain-child of  BT 2.0,  there was a sample session at Gurgaon, which was a hit. The idea was infectious and spread like wildfire across Thomas Cook India.  Everyone wanted to be a part of it. Soon there was an Employee Engagement Committee– “Fun’d’mentals”– and before you knew it, the Flash Mob team, comprising of Team Business Travel 2.0, HR regional leaders and marketing SPOCs,  had arranged it all.

It started with a selection of songs keeping every region in mind.  The final songs were shared with everyone.  HR spocs took nominations for the flash mob crew from every location. Weekly calls, constant updates on Whatsapp groups, Logo finalization for the T-shirts, regular practice along with routine work….. and finally, everyone was ready for what turned out to be a very well-organised, well-choreographed event.

The Flash Fever had caught on faster than the Indian Monsoon!

On 7th July,  Thomas Cook’s first Flash Mob happened at 10 locations simultaneously –Marathon Futurex,  Nariman Point,  Gurgaon, Connaught Place,  Noida,  Chandigarah,  Bangalore,  Chennai,  Kolkata and  Indore.  Rock stars danced to “Gangnam style” and “Zingaat” as well as Bollywood tunes and “Punjabi Remixes”.

The crew worked really hard, resulting in a super performance, where timing and execution are critical to the success of a flash mob.  Everyone cheered, and danced and asked for more. It was, indeed, an amazing experience.  It rocked!
