Thomas Cook firmly believes that a dynamic and vibrant work environment helps create a feel-good factor within employees, and creates a positive and unified attitude. It also acts as a source of high morale, a huge stress buster. HR initiatives of creating such an environment shows the employees that the organisation cares for them. Such initiatives provide a base to understand, absorb and integrate with the company and its culture.
Our company HR promotes fun at work by organising various fun events around special events such as Diwali and Christmas, which include quizzes, festival celebrations, competitions etc., creating a welcome diversion in the daily work schedule.
Some recent events:
Diwali Spreads a Glow in the Office
To celebrate the Festival of Lights, a Shopping Carnival was organised on 26th October 2018 at the Marathon office, Mumbai, which was eagerly patronized by all our staff. To bring in the festivities we organised a bay decoration competition across offices along with a Rangoli Competition, and an Ethnic-Wear Day on 5th November 2018.
Goodwill and Peace to all at Christmas
Staff at the D N Road and Marathon Futurex offices in Mumbai experienced the Joy of Giving…. with a wonderful idea… the Giving Tree.
Pairing with a children’s NGO, we received a list of items that were required for the education of the children there. Chits naming these were stuck on the tree. You could pick one… and gift whatever it stated… putting it in the box close-by. All the gifts were then delivered to the respective NGOs. The overwhelming response from the staff, proved our colleagues have a heart!
To create the right ambiance for the Christmas celebrations, each department was asked to make a crib depicting the birth of Jesus. The Nativity was lovingly created in the different bays in different ways!
A cake decorating competition was held, again at both the DN Road and Marathon Offices, which had the teams vying with each other to make the best dressed cake! They were given the freedom to adorn the cakes from their own imagination. They also had the flexibility to get all the raw materials needed for the cake to enhance their product. The event was a great success as the employees participated in numbers to create their masterpieces! The best ones won prizes. Take a look at the delicious results!
Flying High
The exciting thing about Makar Sankranti is to make and fly a kite…. something that is so popular in India. Naturally, Thomas Cook also organised a Kite making competition on 15th January 2019. A total of 18 teams participated in this event. The Employees showed their overwhelming interest and creativity and prepared amazing and colourful kites in all shapes and sizes. As a company, we are certainly flying high!
