“Feminism isn’t about making women strong. Women are already strong. It is about changing the way the world perceives that strength.”
– G.D. Anderson
Thomas Cook has always perceived that strength. The company constantly respects, recognises and acknowledges the value of its women employees.
In commemorating International Women’s Day, year after year, our office continues to embrace a momentous celebration of women’s achievements, their resilience, and their contribution to the company.
On the 8th of March, every office and branch of our company, across the country, looked bright, festooned with purple and white balloons. It was time to honour and venerate the women of Thomas Cook.
Each office had cake-cutting celebrations, along with other diverse activities to celebrate the day.
At our Marathon Office in Mumbai, there was an air of expectancy. Everyone looked cheerful and ready to celebrate. The Long Haul GIT Team was decked out in bright green T-shirts, because they “wanted to stand out!” They sure did!
Among various interesting activities in Mumbai, there was a free health check-up for the staff, thoughtfully organised, as well as a webinar on “Women’s Health and Wellbeing” hosted by Dr. Neha Patel.
Late afternoon, the canteen terrace was transformed into a veritable “mela”, with various pop-up stalls… pan-Asian food, sandwiches and bakery, clothes and jewellery. In the centre of it all was the “Happy Women’s Day” cake waiting to be cut and shared.
A thumbs-up to the guys who were also looking at the jewellery in the flea bazaar… maybe as appreciation gifts for the women in their lives?
Overall, it was a happy and relaxed day for everyone. What was heartening was the display of solidarity, and the recognition of the invaluable contribution of the women who shape our workplace.
Our Women’s Day festivities underscored the importance of diversity, equality, and inclusion in fostering a thriving corporate culture.
A big dollop of gratitude to the organisation and the men in our company for making Thomas Cook such a safe and happy place to work in.
